Christ is even now on His throne ruling. His global triumph over all evil is surely coming. But the title of this post is not only addressing this wonderful theme.
Kingdom Surge is coming as well. It is a team blog headed up by yours truly which focuses on missions. We have not yet officially launched, but I thought I’d notify you all so you could see some of what I’ve been up to lately.
As we’re assembling posts in preparation of our launch in a couple weeks or so, I thought I’d post some previews. The preview I posted today centers on the glorious theme of Christ’s coming Kingdom victory. Let the words of this sentence fill you with wonder and praise this Sunday morning. May you all be blessed in your various places of worship today.
Before the return of our great King and Savior, Jesus Christ, the gospel will “surge” across the face of the earth, flooding the peoples with the knowledge of the glorious God, a knowledge they were made for, and in which is their eternal life (see John 17:3), but which they lost in the great Fall of Adam.
Why Blogger instead of WordPress?
If you notice the “unreached people group of the day” box, that is one of the key reasons. We can’t do that with WordPress. And it is a really great tool for a missions blog, particularly.
I’m still a WordPress guy at heart, but some features of Blogger’s have definitely improved.
Bob, I’m curious on your end time views. I know most Calvinist do not believe in rapture as Left Behind Series might suggest. Calvinist I know do PCA church …do not believe in a rapture per se.
Kooz,
I agree with Piper that a pre-trib rapture doesn’t fit with the overall tenor of Scripture. And I agree with Sam Storms that premillenniallism doesn’t fit with the Scriptural teaching of the kingdom. So I’m an amillennialist like Vern Poythress.
These three articles are worth the read. As far as a rapture, I believe that will happen as Christ returns (see Matt. 24:30-31, 2 Thess. 2:1) to destroy sin once and for all (at which time the earth will be destroyed and a new heaven and earth will be created).
Thanks for the question. I know the title of this post could have made me sound like a premill, but I think the post itself makes clear that at least I might not be one.
Blessings in Christ,
Bob
Looking forward to your missions emphasis!
