Today I have a simple quote for you. This comes from Joel Beeke’s Living for God’s Glory: An Introduction to Calvinism. This single quote is worth meditating on today. May God bless us in our walk with Christ.
Martin Luther states, “We in Christ equals justification; Christ in us equals sanctification”. (Beeke, Living for God’s Glory, 202)
Excellent ref. quote…answers the question of sanctification and how we “obtain” it!…We do tend to muddy up the waters a bit with the mind renewal process that we all enter at salvation and continue in for the remainder of our earthly life…
Recently with a bit of meditation on the scripture…Lord, I believe, help me with my unbelief…it became clearer to me that the mind renewal “process” is in fact just that…it helps bring us to an understanding and true belief in the promises of God… sanctification is accomplished through Christ IN us… by faith delivered to us… by the Holy Spirit. Thanks for the quote…*: )
Wasn’t sure where to post this comment exactly, so I just put it here.
I read your comment on part 1 of John MacArthur’s analysis of the Song of Solomon series by Mark Driscoll. And I thoroughly appreciated the gentleness and care of your words. You were thoughtful and insightful and a real representation of the Jesus that I know. Thanks for being a light of such goodness and grace.
That’s all I wanted to tell you.
Whitney,
Thanks for your kind words. God bless you and yours.
