4000, 560, and 3

Warning, this is a self-serving, post. Read at your own risk…

I just realized I recently went over the 4,000 comments mark. My review of O. Palmer Robertson’s The Israel of God, created a pingback on one of my older posts back on 11/10 and that was #4,000. Then, on 11/13, David Kjos, the Thirsty Theologian, started the fifth milleniad of comments around here. I hit the 2,000 comment mark back in August of 2007, so the second 2,000 comments came in much quicker than the first.

This is also my 560th post, and this last month marked the completion of three full years of blogging. My actual blogiversary is 10/9; but I only added one more post that month, and two in November 2005. I really didn’t start blogging until December 2005, and today is the anniversary of the posting of “My Story”. That post now has 105 comments.

I’d been meaning to blog about my 3rd blogiversary, so today’s a good day to do that, especially since Jamsco mentioned today was his 501st post. (He’s gonna catch me for sure).

All of this just to say “I’m three!” No, the blog’s three, me, well…..

My New Favicon: What Do You Think?

Hey everyone. Have you noticed my new favicon (the little picture to the left of my blog’s url address in your browser bar)? WordPress.com, the best free blogging service by far, now offers blog images, which double as favicons. You can upload your own image from the Settings menu (top left of the dashboard next below the Support tab).

My quandry is I really think I should redesign the header to match it. I designed this a long time back, before I really realized favicons weren’t possible for wordpress. So I can’t hunt down the cross image I used for this, to use in redesigning my header, so I may have to redesign everything.

I added a larger version of the favicon at the top of my sidebar (not quite as large as the one in this post). For now I’ll leave it like this. But I may get the designer in me going again.

So I thought I’d ask: What do you think of the current blog header? Or theme? Does it jive with the favicon? Should I change it? Are you happy with everything as is? (I know I tend to change things up around here too often….) I’m interested in your thoughts. Thanks.

Life and Blogging

Sorry about the philosophical title. I’m not throwing in the towel or anything.

I’ve started learning Hebrew this semester with The Bethlehem Institute, my church’s seminary quality training school. So I’ve got lots of homework! Got to lear my Aleph, Beta, and Gimels! You can see my friend Shaun Tabbat, blog about our class on his blog. He’s re-learning it, so I envy him!

For the blog I have many plans. Too many and not enough time. And worse, I don’t have high speed internet at home, and my connection has been quite poor. I’ve finally given in and am going to move up to DSL, so that might help.

I hope to finish the overview pages that you’ll find at all the tabs at the top of the blog. I’d like to finish a few unfinished series around here, and start another. I’m also planning on continuing to include more book reviews and Music Monday posts. I’d also like to work on my family photo blog and move it somewhere, and maybe I’ll revive my currently stalled Mission blog. I’d like to keep it, but I don’t want to use Blogger, and I’m partially moved over to Tumblr.org, but now I’m thinking WordPress might be easier. We’ll see!

Just wanted to give an update on life and blogging. Hopefully posts will be more regular around here again soon.

I'm Famous

I guess I’m famous. Anyone being interviewed is right?

Shaun Tabbat, who also attends Bethlehem Baptist, recently interviewed me. I’ve just recently met Shaun and discovered we have many similar interests. I think you’ll enjoy this little interview. If I can get away with it, I might borrow his concept and start interviewing some of my favorite bloggers (er, Biblio-Bloggers, that is).

Now it’s off to the Minnesota State Fair for the day….
